In life we often want what we don't have, and don't want what we have. This is in essence the down fall of hedonism. Pursuing pleasure is disappointing, because we are rarely satiated. It is much better to learn how to like what we've got. Learning to appreciate the simple things requires a conscious decision to be satisfied with your status in life right now. Once you realize how fortunate you are right now, you will begin to experience increased abundance.
Deciding to live a gracious life of appreciation as an added bonus. It is that when we start living of life dictated by gratitude for what we have - what we want is given to us freely. Paradoxically wanting what we don't have yields nothing. It's wanting what we've got that yields everything.
So to get what you want from you life focus your attention on what you've got. Appreciate your life, love, family and friends. Each day take time out to acknowledge the lessons learned, and the beauty that abounds around you. As you get accustomed to paying attention to what's going right in your life some magical things will occur. You'll find the world is a good place to live. You'll discover new friends, and you will receive the things you want seemingly effortlessly. It so easy to live life, when you have learn to like what you've got.
Spend a few minutes at the beginning and end of each day appreciating your blessings. Before you know it you'll troubles will be few, and your treasures beyond your dreams.
